Cool Sites
May 2000

by R. Jaudon "Don" Berry

Hello again, Dear Readers

What was that massive National Groan followed by an even more massive "Sea to Shining Sea" sigh we all just heard? Well, it was that "time of year" again---Income Tax Time!! But, that's part of the price we pay for living well, and free in America. And, when I think of it that way---it makes the paying up a little easier. And, speaking of paying the price---we've just celebrated Easter just think of what a price our Lord Jesus paid for our eternal freedom; for those of us who choose Him. Awesome, wonderful, incomprehensible to the natural mind. Thank you, Praise You Lord!!

Well, we've got some great, Cool Sites for you to check out this month. It's wonderful how the Holy Spirit is speaking through His poets and how we're hearing from Christian Poets throughout the world.

IN REMEMBRANCE

At about 6:15 this morning a friend called me to say that my dear close friend of many years, Gary, had died of a heart attack in the Amsterdam International Airport on Good Friday. Gary had earned his Doctorate of Theology some years ago while still full time in a sales position. He was my brother in Christ and he and his beautiful bride Anne, had helped me through some very rough emotional spots over the years. They ministered hospitality, and love to me and my daughters and they radiated Christ.

Gary was on his way to spend a week in Nigeria to preach and teach Ministers and lay people bringing his special messages about "The Christian Value of Honest Work".

In his briefcase was a copy of "my" poem, "My Easter Is Coming", which he intended to use in his sermons to hundreds.

I miss you, brother,---just now I reached for my 'phone to call and ask you how to cure this pesky computer problem . I know I'll be looking for your E-mails, too.

But, Praise the Lord!----I know you're with Our Jesus----and I'll see you again.

Farewell for now.

This is incredible! No, not this first Site (altho' it is incredible ) But it is incredible that I've not featured this beautiful Site before now. This beautiful lady Wendy Pettitt : Living Life In Victory, at: http://gentle.org/adonai has inspired me with her beautiful graphics and backgrounds (Wendy's Backgrounds and More (http://www.gentle.org/wendysgraphics) which you'll see on many, many Sites. And she was incredibly gracious and helpful to me when I started this Column and asked for her advice. I apologize to you, Wendy and to you , Dear Readers .

Let's visit her Site: "Welcome to Living Life In Victory My goal is for you to meet Jesus before you leave this site. Come relax in the comfort of Jesus.." Here are some of her Topics:

The Truth About Jesus | Ever had Days like this?? | Children | My Testimony - He can change your life too!! | A Poem to My Angels... | Questions, Questions, Questions | Is Jesus Lord of your life? Do You know Him? | Are You walking in Victory? | Do you have childlike faith? | Marriage .....a gift from God!!! | Teens for Christ!!! ----etc.

And in all of these sections she gives an applicable Bible verse, short practical, realistic suggestions and a poem!

For example : Childlike Faith

" Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom God as a little child, he shall not enter therein". Mark 10:15

Then Wendy says: "One of the many wonderful things about children are their innocence. Their simplicity and innocuousness is to be envied. They readily forgive, not harboring grudges. They are trusting of others and are willing to accept and believe what others tell them. That is why we must become like children to receive Jesus Christ. We must come believing that He is the son of God who takes away our sins. We must have childlike faith. "

Here's a sample Poem: God, Are You Real?

The child whispered,
"God, speak to me"
And a meadowlark sang.
The child did not hear.

So the child yelled,
"God, speak to me!"
And --------------

The child looked around and said,
"God let me see you"

But -----------------------------

And the child shouted,
"God show me a miracle!"
And a---------------------------
But -----------------------------

So the child cried out in despair,
"Touch me God, and let me know you are here!"
Whereupon God -------------------------

But the child-----------------------------------

Finally, here's the sense of Wendy's heart ( I hope she doesn't mind me sharing her E mail of Oct. 1998------we'd never "met" nor corresponded before):

WARNING: This next Site may be controversial to some. Proceed with prayer, remembering that St. Paul used some earthy language in The Bible, and that the "Song of Solomon" is viewed by some as graphic. Read this man's testimony & life's story and pray for a sense of his heart. In the context of the war of the battle of the flesh there is a poem about a certain practice called m _ _ t_ _ _ _ t_ _ n. Of course, you don't have to read that one.

Robert Grob is disabled and living in an institution. (Don't miss His Testimony, when you visit his page). This honor graduate and Pastor suffers with compulsive obsessive disorder----he's lost as much as 430 lbs. during one session; he lost his Pastorate from being involved in the game Dungeon & Dragons! Visit his Site----read his poetry, and know that The Lord indeed does work in mysterious ways.

Sonnets For Christians at: http://www2.southwind.net/~rdgrob/bgs4x.htm is where you'll find Robert. And, as he mentions "A sonnet is 14 lines of rhymed iambic pentameter."

Here's a sample of his poetry: Easter Sonnets I

Copyright 1999 by Robert Grob

He trudges on, bowed down with heavy load,
His visage marred by blood and sweat and pain.
He stumbles, falls, gets up and falls again
Until at last he lies there in the road.
Too spent He is to carry further on
The pain and anguish bowing shoulders down -
The crossbeam is but part he bore from town -
And now His human strength is done and gone.
A passerby is pressed to aid him there
And staggers under part of His great load -
But with this aid He finishes His road
To meet pending appointment in Death's Lair.
'Twas human pain and suffering we see
Upon the road He walked to Calvary.

And now,
our final Site for May, Linda LaMar Inspirational Poetry at: http://www.homestead.com/inspirationalpoetry/InspirationalPoetryHome.html

Here we find the almost stark backgrounds that point up the beautiful paintings by Danny Hahlbohm .The Midi that plays is not distracting but adds to the Site.

Here's a sample of Linda's , often visceral poetry:

Only Love Can Heal A Heart Of Stone

Is your heart lost in cold despair
And there's no one who for you will care
This is not the way it has to be
Only love my friend can set you free.
You'll live your life but ------
If you keep your ----------------
You don't have to be so sad and blue
For you my friend can feel love too.
Don't let another day go by
Someday you'll run out of ---------

Share a little love each day
Your ----------- will go away
Ask for Gods grace let down some ------
So you can feel

Love can heal your heart of stone.
