Christmas Then...And Now

Once upon a Christmas night
Two thousand years ago,
In Bethlehem town was born a Child
In manger meek and low.

No Christmas bells were heard that night,
No presents on the tree.
In fact, no room was in the inn
For the infant and His mother Mary.

As shepherds tend their flocks that night
They behold a wondrous sight...
For an Angel of the Lord came down to earth
To proclaim the Christ Child's holy birth.

And to that lowly band of men
The ultimate Gift was given,
As hosts of angels sing praise to God;
For the Savior come down from heaven.

Two thousand years later we've all but forgotten
The Gift that was given that night.
We're caught up in a mad rush of Christmas shopping
And tinsel and colored lights.

But God didn't forget the plight of man,
And He wants us to know His Son.
For Jesus came down and gave His life
For the sins of everyone.

If you haven't yet experienced that love,
Christmas is the perfect season
To humble yourself, admit your sin,
'Cause Jesus is the reason.
