In this column Larry will examine ways
in-which you can profit from your gifting. "This is my way of giving back what
God has graciously given to me...the understanding and wisdom to actually profit
from this unique blessing."
Selling On ConsignmentOne of the easiest ways to get our product accepted by retailers is consignment. That simply means we make an agreement with a store or organization to offer our products for sale, but we only get paid after the item(s) sells. With this method, the store takes no financial risk, as that lies with the owner of the product. We have used the consignment method a number of times throughout the years, and we currently have a couple of accounts using that method. Disadvantages There are some disadvantages with consignment. First, the business owners aren't concerned if our product doesn't sell because they have no investment. That also means we won't get the prominent areas of display in the stores. Those areas are reserved for products in which they have an investment, as they want to see those sell as soon as possible so they can get a return on their money. We also need to make careful note of what we've placed in the store and make sure that we're getting compensated for the items that do sell. It puts the burden of inventory on our shoulders. However, it is an excellent way to get into the store and to prove to the vendor that our product is worth stocking. Once that they see it will sell, they may well be willing to also invest in our poetry, which in turn the Lord can use to bless many people. Until next time, God bless.
